Hailing from Sandusky, Ohio – a tourist town featuring Cedar Point amusement park and the largest indoor waterpark hotel – Tyler Patrick, PT, DPT, OCS, ATC, CSCS went to Ohio State to earn his BS in Athletic Training. While in school, he worked in college athletics as an athletic training student and during the summer before his senior year, Tyler had an internship with the Baltimore Ravens.

Tyler pursued his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Duke University and furthered his education in Orthopedics through an Orthopedic Residency in South Carolina.

Tyler moved to the Big Island in October 2014 and is really loving the people and culture. As a big Cleveland, Ohio State, and Duke sports fan, he’s still getting used to watching football at 6am but it’s worth the tradeoff of being able to surf and be in the water year round. Tyler is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist, passing a national examination demonstrating advanced knowledge and understanding in Orthopedics. He loves learning new physical therapy treatment methods and teaching his patients ways to optimize movement.

Stephanie Colasanti, PT, DPT fell in love with the Big Island when she did one of her physical therapy internships at the Life Care Center of Kona and knew it would be a great place to practice physical therapy.

Stephanie is originally from Michigan, but moved to the north east coast of Florida when she was 8. She developed a passion for surfing and the ocean from growing up in Florida and spent a few years in between summers coming home from college as an Ocean rescue lifeguard. She also participated in junior lifeguards, teaching kids to surf, taking them ocean kayaking and teaching them the ropes of being a lifeguard. Growing up, she was also a cross country runner and avid tennis player. She has a passion for nature, outdoors and adventure, and after graduating undergrad she did a 1200 mile bike tour from Eugene OR to Los Angeles CA.

Her interests in PT include orthopedics and neurologic population. She has already taken all of the manual therapy courses (continuing ed) offered by the University of St. Augustine, and plans to get Manual Therapy Certified after gaining more experience with orthopedic patients. She loves treating a variety of patients ranging from the orthopedic to the neurological patient population and to provide them with the tools they need to move and feel better to improve their overall quality of life. Her future goals are to become MTC certified, SFMA certified, and potentially certified in yoga for health professionals.

Lev Burukhov, PT, DPT is from Queens, NY. His academic pursuits coupled with his love of martial arts, movement, and performance led him to pursue a career in physical therapy. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011, and has worked in various physical therapy settings for the last eight years. During this time, Lev witnessed that the biggest reason for poor rehabilitation outcomes was due to decreased time spent with patients by their physical therapist. Too often, patients were passed off to aides or trainers, or just given a sheet of paper and told to do exercises on their own. He strongly believes that movement is the key to recovery and exercises are what we use to facilitate correct movement.

Lev has been an avid martial artist since the age of 15. He was an amateur Muay Thai (Thai style of kick boxing) fighter for Chok Sabai Gym in New York City. He has traveled to Thailand numerous time for training trips with his coach and fight team. He has also led strength and conditioning programs for amateur fighters at Chok Sabai Gym.
